So I matched with someone on Tinder and messaged her that I liked her hair. She said she liked mine, too, and asked what I was looking for and whatnot. All normal stuff, definitely not a bot account. (she commented on my shirt in one message) Then she said she was going to lose wifi and didn’t have unlimited data, so she asked for my number. I gave it to her. A few minutes went by with no texts or calls, so I went back to Tinder. She had unmatched with me. Just now, a couple hours later, I got a spam text using vastly inferior grammar and spelling that said, “hey sweetie we talkd on tinder wanna hangout?”
Se riously, I know that these scammers have no morals, but still. I’m not sure if “she” was the scammer him/herself, or if she was an actual person who sold my info. In either case, that’s just not okay.

Shit, I’m about to get back out there. I don't want to. I'm already asking friends (embarrassingly) to take more pictures of me/us so I have any to make a recent profile. I should just post pictures of cars right?

Yes, but not the Porsche. They will think you are a glucose guardian . Unless the Porsche is dirty and covered in mud, then you’ll get the right people.

The best you can do is just report it to Tinder. I g ave up on online dating well over a decade ago. While lonely, I don’t miss having my personal information monetized for the companies’ profit, or worse, paying them on top of it (looking at you, Match.com).
I don’t say this to dissuade you away from online dating. I guess it was just reading that you suffer from the same pitfalls from fake accounts.
Maybe try Bumble. At least the woman that started it also was one of the creators of Tinder ( long story short: non disclosure settlement and she started Bumble to give women more control).
I wish I could remember her podcast interview that was on NPR recently — sounded like a good person.
Anyway, good luck and keep your chin up!

The other pictures of me in cars include a C7 Corvette, an ND Miata, and a Mustang GT (my last car). So, deal breakers?

That’s the first I’ve heard of this happening, though it doesn’t surprise me. We’re already heading back into the direction of singles bars since the apps are so rife with scammers.

Obviously not for me, but I have a partner thanks ;)
I was mostly joking about the Porsche. I mean some might infer, but I say put things out there than mean something to you and obviously you’ll have to do some weeding but you’ll find people with the same interests.

when I see this stuff about Tinder and whatever else, I feel like Grandpa Simpson. “I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!” but in my case I was never with it in the first place :p

I gave up on online dating well over a decade ago.
I gave up on dating before I left high school, 2.5 decades ago.

Wow. That’s a lot of effort to get a phone number that on its own isn’t worth much.
Sorry.
